A leading supplier of labour to the construction industry is striving to ensure the safety of key workers travelling to sites across the UK during the Coronavirus lockdown.
Fortel, based in the West Midlands, provides over 2,000 workers at more than 130 locations across the country.
This week, it has issued an instructional video to staff informing them how to adhere to social distancing and hygiene controls when travelling to and from work during the Coronavirus outbreak.
The instructional video informs drivers on how and when to properly disinfect handles and surfaces, while showing passengers how to safely load and unload vehicles, as well as entering and exiting vehicles, to prevent virus transmission.
It also offers guidance on safe process during travel with tips such as keeping windows open and occupant distancing.
Nick Jones, Head of Labour Supply at Fortel, said: “If teams are not able to travel independently, we must ensure that they can get to work safely. We produced a video because, although the principles are simple, it’s a lot more effective to show the workforce through that media.
“As a company, we put our people first and focus on utilising technology to help us do just that.
“We have issued this video to all staff, so that they are aware of how to act when travelling to and from work.
“The essence of the guidance is that the driver wipes any touchpoints down with a disinfecting wipe before the passengers get in one at a time, sitting disparately, and unloading one at a time at the end of each journey.
“There are some elements which are common sense but we feel that by translating operational procedures into this visual guide, we are providing essential support for our staff.”
